I have a bachelors degree in Nutrition and I am a Fellow of Applied Functional Science through the Gray Institute. Helping others find freedom through movement is my passion. As with persons dedicated to a field of study, I am passionate about learning and furthering my education. During the past 16 years, I have worked as a personal trainer. I am a certified trainer through the American Council on Exercise and National Academy of Sports Medicine. I am a ViPR certified trainer and Global Ambassador, a member of the industry association IDEA and I am currently studying advanced Postnatal training under Jenny Burrell.
My education and study interests have evolved over the years through the influence of industry mentors and client training needs. I have had a great deal of personal drive to seek out the best applicable training and nourishment strategies to heal my own body. This is one of the major influences in my decision to start this blog and business.
I started this blog while pregnant with my second set of twins. The blog is evolving into a story detailing some of the successes and failures I have had as a Mom with two sets of twins.
I had a fantastic first pregnancy and delivered two healthy boys at 38 weeks. I successfully nursed them both until 11 months when they weaned to whole foods. My health began to fall apart after I stopped nursing. I lost a significant amount of weight during the 11 months of nursing and my body became deficient in vital nutrients. I struggled with anxiety, adrenal fatigue and blood sugar imbalance. I also had physical symptoms such as muscle stiffness, weakness, loss of coordination, joint pain and loss of power. During this time I was eating a low fat diet and exercising in an attempt to remedy my physical symptoms. I thought I just needed to get stronger after the pregnancy.
When the boys were 1 1/2 years old I traveled to California to seek help from one of my mentors. He directed me to resources that stemmed from the Paleo Diet. I dove in head-first and my health began to transform. I worked with a Naturopathic Doctor to aid in healing my leaky gut and adrenal fatigue. Through targeted supplementation and a nourishing diet, my whole world changed in a matter of months.
The purpose of this blog is to share with Moms and Moms-to-be what I have learned through intensive study, application and practice. There is nothing more powerful than taking control of your health by educating yourself on what your body needs. Promoting an environment of healing by nourishing your body, reestablishing an optimal hormonal balance, and reducing inflammation and stress is life altering. Movement training is also an essential part of improving function to be the best Mom you can be.
